My father has an AcerAspire 5315. I was trying to install Slackware 13.1 on it, but it always suddenly turned off. I understood that it was due to over heating. I opened it and found out that actually the fan was not rotating.
I searched on internet and found two solutions:
- upgrade the BIOS (which is risky)
- use a program (acer_fancontrol)
I tried the second solution and it worked.
